I love a bit of CPD ⭐This session by Dr Tina Rae focuses on Motivational Interviewing: understanding motivation and how it works in terms of enabling behaviour change. The therapeutic approach of Motivational Interviewing (MI) is also explained and the ways in which this can be adapted and used with children and young people. Understanding and working with the change cycle and ambivalence is key alongside a range of active listening skills. A helpful watch, especially for those working in secondary settings.https://lnkd.in/eDyabwh6#senco

If you have 7 minutes, please take a look at this video (you may need to reset). This is a summary of a study we did looking at levels of rapport with a patient and levels of addressing the patient's issue. When high rapport occurred AND the patient's issues were fully addressed (this would be motivational interviewing), a synergy takes place that rapport alone and addressing the issues alone cannot achieve.Rapport (love, trust, caring) creates a relationship with the patient that becomes the leverage for education and information being seen by the patient as an extension of caring. https://lnkd.in/gwNKyVyJ

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative style of communication that is designed to strengthen a patient’s commitment to change and reduce their feelings of ambivalence. MI is one key measure to persuade patients to change their behaviors.Three approaches for an effective MI are asking open ended questions, driving conversations forward and having a conversation structure (Elicit-provide-Elicit) - tried to visualize.Extracted from the book "Motivational interviewing: Helping people change by Miller, W. R., & Rollnick, S. "

⚠️ 'Spacial Emotional Indicators'Many of you aware of it❓️👨🏫 Do they teach you much about this in things like presentation courses and/or interview training?! No...it's unlikely!🔉 Being a good communicator isn't just about how to project your voice, tonality, intonation, tempo, pitch, cadence, the way you stand, posture, gesture etc..The above takes CONSCIOUS thinking ie COGNITIVE EFFORT. Problem being, if you're nervous and capitulate, you go midbrain. You are not able to cognitively process or think straight due to the adrenal dump. Instead, you react based on your limbic brain (emotion) and whatever is programmed into your hardrive ie unconscious part of the brain, is what will be operational.So....... My question is: are the so-called coaches, trainers, 'subject experts' teaching you the things that make this difference. In other words, are they teaching how to programme the correct things in, that one can rely on should they need to access it when going into 'auto pilot' mode?I shall let others answer that one ⁉️

The strength of Motivational Interviewing (MI) training lies in empathy—understanding and helping unearth personal reasons to champion change. These skills contribute to stronger, more trusting relationships in every aspect of life. Find an MI training with the National Council for yourself or your organization: https://bit.ly/47SRsSI
