How to request an official transcript from Central Michigan University? ›

You can access an unofficial copy of your transcript in the Student Portal. To request an official transcript, please visit registrars.cmich.edu. The CMU Student Portal offers access to a number of features. Individuals who take Connecting Link classes will be able to access the portal once they obtain their global ID.

To have your courses considered for credit by Central Michigan University, you'll need to request official transcripts be sent to us from your previous school. You must send the final transcript once you have completed the course, and your grade is available. We do not accept copies or hand-delivered transcripts.

MSU transcript requests are processed within 1-3 business days.

To obtain a transcript from a California public school, you will need to contact the school directly. If the school is closed, we suggest contacting the local school district where the school was located for assistance. Contact information for these entities may be obtained from the California School Directory.

It must bear the applicant's name, college, or university certification (e.g., seal, logo, watermark, or letterhead), date and name of the conferred degree and registrar's signature. Transcripts that do not meet these requirements are considered unofficial.

For best results, scan in gray scale or black and white. Make sure the scanned document is fully legible and can be printed on letter size paper (8.5 x 11 inches).

There are content differences between an unofficial transcript and an official transcript. Some differences only appear on certain careers (i.e., levels at which student records are aggregated such as Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, etc.) while others are universal across all careers at the University.

Transcripts and other academic records must be issued directly by the registrar's office of your previous school(s) and bear the official registrar's stamp or signature. All other security features must be intact. Unofficial records such as print-outs from student portals are not acceptable for admission review.

Transcripts may take longer to process if:

Request is made during times of high volume (e.g., at the end of a term) Recipient address is missing information in the request. Account does not contain enough information to identify you as a student.

How many days will it take to get transcripts? ›

UNDER NORMAL COURSE: The transcript will normally be issued within 21 working days in cases where the application is found to be complete and correct in all respects.

Since official transcripts will not be sent to you directly, you'll have no way of knowing whether they've been sent to your new school without following up. So check with the school you're applying to to make sure they received each one.

If you didn't receive your transcripts, you'll need to contact the Department of Education in your school's state.

Most schools will not let you enroll without an official transcript.

To obtain a Letter of Intent as a CMU student, you will need to contact the Registrar's Office by email at records@cmich.edu or phone 989-774-3261.

Official transcripts of courtroom proceedings must be ordered from the Court Reporter. Copies of official transcripts already on file with the court are available through the Court Reporter or through the PACER Service Center. A transcript to be delivered within thirty (30) calendar days after receipt of an order.
